September 6 th was the starting date of the Slidell 21 st Century After School Program for the 2006-2007 school year.

Our program serves students in grades K-5 th from Brock, Abney, and Florida Avenue Elementary. The center's staff includes a site coordinator, 5 certified teachers, and 11 high school student workers. The program dates and time are Monday-Thursday, 3:30p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The program provides homework assistance and tutoring,enrichment activities & cultural arts activities.

Our cultural enrichment activities include:

Art, Karate (1 st -2 nd only), Brick Lab, Computer, Brainchild (3-5 th only), Recreation & Board Games

3 rd grade students enjoy the T.R.E.E. program

(Teaching Responsible Earth Education)

This curriculum based program engages the students in activities related to the plant kingdom, animal kingdom, and the mineral kingdom.

Each Tuesday, Ms. Sue (Firefly) and Ms. Ann (Snow Goose) come to the center with exciting activities and new treasures for the students to explore. Ms. Roberts and student workers assist with activities.

PARENT REMINDERS

 

- The program ends at 5:30. Please be on time to pick up students in the car line.

-If you need to pick up your child early, please do so by 5:15. Otherwise, we ask that everyone remains in the car line. (PLEASE DO NOT PARK AND GET OUT OF CAR). Thanks for your cooperation.

-When your child is absent, please call the 21 st Century office (649-0234) on the day they will be absent and send a written excuse with them when they return.
