Meet Mrs. Thanars

Hello Everyone!
I'm Dinah Thanars, your child's Pre-Kindergarten teacher. This is my sixth year of teaching Pre-K at Brock. All my life, I wanted to be a teacher, but my mother thought I should be an attorney. The family joke was-Dinah will argue with a stop sign! Since she was unable to change my mind, my mother encouraged me to become a top notch teacher. I usually do something school related everyday. I am always on the look out for ways to enhance my teaching skills as well as the learning of my students.
When I am not teaching or working on school related projects, I spend time with my husband Don and my two daughters, Jade and Michaela. I would rather read a good book than do anything else, especially house cleaning. I enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes on my family. I also enjoy spending a leisurely day at the spa. Don and I also collect African art.
I grew up in Houston and attended Texas Southern University where I received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Reading. I also received certification in Early Childhood and English as a Second Language.
Don is a retired Marine Corps Officer. As a military family, we traveled around the country and overseas. I have had the privilege of teaching in Texas, North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Africa and now, Louisiana.
